Monmouth Medical Center Receives Total Joint Replacement Certification
Monmouth Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility, recently received Total Joint Replacement certification through The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification Program in recognition of Monmouth’s commitment to excellence in providing care for total joint replacement patients.
The Joint Commission is an independent commission that accredits and certifies more than 19,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the U.S., with the mission to continuously improve health care for the public.
The Total Joint Replacement Program at Monmouth Medical Center is dedicated to the care of hip and knee joint replacement surgery patients. The goal of the program is to provide around-the-clock, high-quality, compassionate care so patients are comfortable, informed and ready to start their recovery.
Staffed by certified registered nurses and licensed physical and occupational therapists who specialize in the care of orthopaedic, spine and joint replacement patients, Monmouth Medical Center’s Total Joint Replacement Program is led by David Chalnick, MD, director, Joint Replacement Program, and Jason Cohen, MD, chairman of orthopaedic surgery.
In order to receive certification in both hip and knee replacement, Monmouth Medical Center was evaluated in areas related to national standards of care and the effective use of evidence-based guidelines, as well as performance improvement measures.
“The Joint Commission surveyor was very impressed with the quality of patient care, the preoperative education program, OR process, pain management, and the partnership with rehabilitative services,” said Patricia Gossett, director of Performance Improvement at Monmouth Medical Center.
