51-Pound Tumor Removed from Woman in Red Bank

The union beach woman had the tumor removed at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

A Union Beach woman had a 51-pound tumor removed from her stomach at Riverview Medical Center, according to an Associated Press report published in the Star Ledger.

According to the report, the unidentified 65-year-old woman went to the emergency room complaining of stomach pain and abdominal swelling. The woman was entered into surgery earlier this month after a CAT scan revealed the 51-pound tumor.

Dr. David Dupree took about five hours to remove the tumor, according to the AP.

The woman is expected to leave the hospital in the next week following the June 10 surgery.
