Update, 9:42 p.m.: According to Red Bank Capt. Darren McConnell, two people were transported to Riverview Medical Center with what turned out to be non-serious injuries following Thursday night's crash. Both were occupants of the car that was struck on its side. The driver was a 27-year-old Keyport man and a 36-year-old female passenger from Red Bank. The driver of the Toyota was a 20-year-old Morganville man.

The incident took place at Newman Springs Road and Clifford Place when the vehicle being driven by the Keyport man exited Clifford Place and collided with the Toyota. Summonses are pending. The investigation is being conducted by Ptl. Beau Broadley of the Traffic Bureau.

Red Bank first responders were forced to use hydraulic rescue tools, also known as the Jaws of Life, in order to extricate a man trapped following a two-car collision on Newman Springs road just after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Though official details of the accident were not immediately available, it appeared as though the driver of a late-model Toyota Corolla t-boned an Infinity sedan as it was entering the roadway. The driver of the Corolla was not injured in the crash.

Red Bank Volunteer Fire Fighters used saws and the Jaws of Life to first cut off the driver's side front and rear doors and were able to dislodge the trapped male victim from inside.
