UPDATE: Man Atop Seaside Heights Roller Coaster In Police Custody

Police, emergency personnel are on the scene

A man who stood atop the wreckage of the water-drenched roller coaster near the Casino Pier in Seaside Heights Tuesday is now in police custody.

The man, identified as 38-year-old Chris Angulo of Lavallette, climbed aboard the ruins of the Jet Star roller coaster in an effort to call attention to Sandy recovery, according to News12.

State police and local authorities worked earlier Tuesday morning to get the man off the wreckage.

Putting up a Flag...GOD BLESS! yes it was a matter of time before someone pulled a stunt, but to be honest..two thumbs up from me!!! it was not harmful , no one was hurt, cut the guy some slack.....maybe some are mad cause it wasnt them that did it!!!

the insurance companies just want to protect their profits and the state department of banking and insurance isn't doing a thing about it. I have filed numerous complaints and all were ignored. Even the governor has ignored this issue. Campaign funds come from insurance companies, oil companies and unions:remember that.

That is not even funny. Some residents might result in hanging themselves. They all need to go...Point Beach tax payers are losing because all of these losers. They seem to be weeding them out one by one but new ones grow. Tooker first then ne Gordon the one term councilmen that is delusional like all the rest is next. He is being played like a fiddle. He does not even know he is being used by his political friends. The two new guys I am sure will cause a lot of damage too. Even more problems will be added. They need more honest intelligent individuals to run in point beach. Wait, Is there any? Even if they start out honest they quickly become corrupted. It is a town were you can easily be bought.

RE:the roller coaster IS private property. my question is where were the troopers that have been watching the boardwalk areas?

That's an easy one....They were sitting in their heated police cars, playing with their smart phones and reading the paper. They have strict orders from their Colone to wear blinders and to always remain in their cars so as to not accidentally run into a looter!

I'm sorry that First Respnders were called out because of this man, but I totally understand why this man felt compelled to do what he did.. I was an EMT while a resident of Aberdeen NJ for 11 yrs & someone who may have had a life & death issue may have been put in jeopardy . But plz people stop Crucifying this man.. As much help & as many volunteered there is still so much work to be done.. People are still without their homes & so many things we all have taken for granted @ some point in our lives.. Maybe he was just trying to keep the people of the shore in the news & not forgotten .. We all have to stick together and STAY JERSEY STRONG. ❤

Not to mention they are contending with insurance companies, state federal departments...the owners would love to have it out asap...like anything else the red tape is prolonging the process.

Although I think what he did was not the most sensible, I commend him for having the you-know-whats to do it. I live on Mantoloking Road and have seen alot of the devastation through the eyes of friends having lost everything, but I got up early this morning and drove down 35 to Lavallette, early so as not to be in anyone's way of construction, and all I can say is Holy Crap! Ive seen the pictures and the videos but I truly thought I was going to be sick. My stomach in upset and tears welling. Although my home and belongings weren't destroyed, where I grew up is. Never mind climbing the roller coaster, I am surprised these people aren't forming mobs busting into Congress with their second amendment rights, while they still have it. What he did was not aggressive or hurtful, he made a statement without any type of violence. I commend him for what he did. With the devastation I saw out there today, and knowing the lives lost, damaged and/or destroyed, climbing a roller coaster after being in the heart of it seems pretty harmless to me.

People should learn to mind their own business. Chris is a friend of mine. He did this for many reasons. Most of you won't understand... Some people are sick and tired of the government and what going on in this world. There is not much us "little" people and do. But like a poster above said. Some may want to join or raise a fist and say fuck the rules. Go for it! Make a statement. I have hung out with this dude on an off for over a decade. We surfed that spot quite a few times. It hits some people on a different level... Felon? Low life? Who the fuck do you people think you are? Seriously. Half of you are just middle of the road pussies. Won't take any chances if your pathetic lives depended on it. While we are surfing and having fun. Enjoying life. He is a good guy that will give you the shirt off his back. Nuts? You bet. But a great guy. When you all think how cool it would be to charge a huge wave or climb the side of a mountain. He would do that. The people who do are the same people who make a statement when it has to be done. The same people who will punch some asshole in the face when he is disrespecting someone's wife. While the middle of the road pussy husband just sits there and watches... Because he doesn't want to get in trouble.

Yes, he shouldn't have done it; it was bound to happen for thirty minutes of fame...At the very least, he put an American Flag on top...God Bless America! Seaside has so many pressing issues within the town to take care of rather than arresting this guy..Let it be...

Well said Sean, he didn't bother anyone or hurt anyone. The response by police and emer. service was unwarranted & their day in the spot light....Should fly until all are made whole at the "Jersey Shore" by the Ins. Co's and FEMA !!! Stay Strong ! We should all fly OUR flags until this is a done deal by those in charge ( Elected Officials) Can you here US now !!!!!Must be a bad connection ...again !

Awesome. What's up with them handcuffing the guy? What happens if the boat flips on the way in?

if you think about it, by the police state arresting this guy for having GUTS and trying to send a message to rest of country that NJ Shore is NOT being helped......does the police state NOT want to be helped or do they agree with the guy ????????

I think he owns the jetstar now! He climbed up there and planted his...err, our flag but I think he still captured it fare and square. Maybe it had to be at least 12 miles out?

At a time when people are expressing their anger, frustration, disgust, disappointment etc. by picking up an assault weapon, I consider this physical demonstration of will and determination to be a productive way to get attention. Maybe it's just part of the new normal...

The funny part about the whole thing was watching the police throw the Guy around in the boat to handcuff him when the Guy voluntary put his hands behind his back. Great job NJSP

Because they were embarrassed and pissed that this guy slipped through unnoticed, they took it out on him by roughing him up. They had to show who was in charge. Haha, too little, too late.

What a surprise. More dirtbags in the Heights. Until the towns decides it wants to clean up the low lifes, more to come.
