Merchants Invited to Talk Recovery at County Forum Monday

Economic impact round-table planned at eastern branch of county library in Shrewsbury

Business owners affected by superstorm Sandy are invited to an economic impact round-table discussion sponsored by county freeholders Monday night.

Merchants are asked to RSVP at Susan.Folta@co.monmouth.nj.us to attend the 6 p.m. session at the eastern branch of the Monmouth County Library, 1001 Route 35, Shrewsbury.

“The roundtable is being held to ensure that the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) hears directly about what our local businesses have experienced and to move the economic recovery forward,” Freeholder Deputy Director Thomas A. Arnone said. “I strongly encourage business leaders who are focused on the rebuilding of our local economy to attend.”

A county release explains that the federal Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration takes the lead on economic support following disasters. It's goal is to leverage federal and state expertise to help local businesses rebuild and and facilitate economic opportunities.

“Our first step is to make sure that Monmouth County businesses provide essential information at this roundtable," Arnone said.
