A car struck a motorcycle on Friday afternoon on Branch Avenue, sending both drivers to local hospitals.

The motorcycle was traveling south on Branch Avenue when it was hit by a Toyota sedan around 3:45 p.m., according to Little Silver Police Capt. Gary LaBruno. The sedan had been turning onto Pinckney Road from northbound Branch Avenue.

The accident caused traffic to be rerouted for about an hour on Friday, said LaBruno.

The operator of the motorcycle was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center, said LaBruno, and the driver of the vehicle was transported to Riverview Medical Center.

Red Bank police and fire provided assistance, LaBruno said.
