Pilgrim Baptist Church Sponsor Fatherhood and Mentors Breakfast

Keynote speakers: NJ State Director of The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Harry Flaherty, along with ESPN Radio host, Bill Daughtry kick off the first Fatherhood and Mentors Breakfast

Reverend Terrence Porter, the senior pastor at Pilgrim Baptist Church understands the need to mentor a boy, who one day will grow up to be a man. On June 11, at 8 am Pilgrim Baptist Church, which is located at 172 Shrewsbury Ave., will host its first Fatherhood and Mentors Breakfast.  Headlining this event as keynote speakers, will be Harry Flaherty, who is the state director of The Fellowship for Christian Athletes, along with ESPN Radio talk show host, Bill Daughtry.

Each man attending the breakfast is asked to bring a male child between the ages of 8-18.  Following the breakfast these men will spend the entire day with the young boys and younger men.  It could be a father and son, a grandfather and grandson, or a community member, who is willing to take the time to make a difference in the life of a boy.

The Fatherhood and Mentors Breakfast is an extension of Pilgrim’s Man-to-Man support group that meets every Thursday from 6:30-7:45 pm at the Pilgrim Baptist Church Annex, located next door to the church.  “The day is dedicated to mentorship,” said Rev. Porter, who heads up the Man-to Man support group.
