Today is the most important day of the year. Red Bank and Shrewsbury residents head to the polls today to help decide the future of their towns, their county, their state and even their country. 

From municipal elections all the way to the White House, its up for grabs. For a look at who's seeking election on Red Bank and Shrewsbury's councils and the towns' respective boards of educations read on.

Red Bank Council

In Red Bank three candidates vie for two three-year seats. Incumbent Democrats Mike DuPont and Council President Art Murphy face off against Republican challenger and current Red Bank Board of Education Member Sue Viscomi.

DuPont and Murphy are running on a platform of continued success, promising to continue making strides towards completing the goals they lined out following their last elections to council. 

Viscomi is attempting to break in to an entirely Democratic council, offering to provide, at least, a difference of opinion from time to time.

Shrewsbury Council

Shrewsbury also features three candidates running for two council seats.

Incumbent Republicans Anthony Pellegrino and Jeff DeSalvo are seeking additional three-year terms and are being challenged by Democrat Donald Sena. 

Red Bank Board of Education

There are three candidates running unopposed for board of education seats in the Red Bank School district. Board President Ann Roseman and Board Member Carrie Ludwikowski are running for additional three-year terms, as is newcomer Frederick Stone. 

Shrewsbury Board of Education

Shrewsbury's board of education finds itself in a position with more seats than candidates in today's elections. 

Incumbent Kathleen Ward is joined by newcomers Mary Ellen Laughlin and Natalie Carroll seeking unopposed three-year terms. Shrewsbury has no registered candidates to fill the seat of a two-year unexpired term that's also up for election.

Red Bank Regional Board of Education

The regional high school has three, three-year board of education terms up for grabs. For available sending district seats, challenger Pat Noble is hoping to unseat incumbent Nilsa Samol for the available Red Bank seat. In Shrewsbury, incumbent Randy Mendelson is running uncontested.
