Rockit Exults in the Music of Woodstock

Rockit, Central Jersey's preeminent Rock school presents three hours of peace and music.

A check of my previous work for Patch will reveal, perhaps an uneven number of articles and videos about area rock school, Rockit. The quantity and really, quality of Rockit's performances explains this scale-tipping reporting. In short they are that good, that often.

When I was first assigned to cover Bruce Gallipani's rock school back in March, I assumed it was like most...a place where kids learn, play and grind out a tune or three. It wasn't until I saw and heard them play that I realized that something really special is coming out of that small rehearsal space connected to the Basie.  Rockit is not your average small town school of rock or the kids in Rockit are not your average small town rockers or both. It's hard to tell which came first.  It isn't necessary.

This past week, after being delayed for four days by Hurricane Irene, Rockit, went on with the show...a Woodstock Tribute that, in many ways, had more power than the category 1 that postponed it.

Because seeing and hearing is believing, check out the video and don't miss another opportunity to see these kids rock. Some day you'll be able to say you saw them when.
