Yestercades: Nostalgia Served With Every 1UP [VIDEO]
The downtown Red Bank retro-arcade held its soft opening this weekend.
When Ken Kalada talks about retro arcade gaming, he’s really talking about fond childhood memories, of days spent with friends in front of glowing screens tucked into brightly-colored cabinets where an endless supply of quarters meant an endless supply of fun.
For years he’s assembled a collection of arcade games from his youth in hopes of opening his own arcade some day, the kind the 30-year-old Red Bank resident used to visit regularly with his own friends. Finally, that day has come. Over this weekend, Red Bank’s newest retro arcade Yestercades, held its soft opening, welcoming gamers both young and old to enjoy the games and, more importantly, the atmosphere of another era.
In addition to retro arcade games, Yestercades also offers pool, many varieties of pinball, as well as play on home consoles both old and new on big screen televisions, from the Atari to the Xbox 360.
Yestercades is located at 80 Broad St., and is open seven days a week, Mon. through Thurs, 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m., Fri. 11:30 a.m. – 2 a.m., Sat. 11 a.m. – 2 a.m., and Sun. 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Visit their website at http://yestercades.com.

Great place but very over priced. Not a place the kids of red bank would be able to afford to go to which is unfortunate.

$8 an hr is expensive? If u break it down its cheaper than the movies! What can kids do that's cheaper? Sit outside of 7-11? But if they didn't do that ppl would have anything to complain about. $8! My word. This is why I hate white ppl.

Well for starters, for an hour it came out to a little over 9 dollars. it wasn't 8 dollars even. But please tell me what kid from red bank under the age of 15 is going to have 10 dollars for just an hour. Think of the parents that have multiple kids, that could be 30 or 40 dollars just for your kids to have an hour of play. And the reason you hate white people is because you're a racist.

What kid under 15 wants to play 20 year old arcade games? I don't think 10 year old are the target demographic for this particular establishment. Even so how much does a party at Chucky Cheese run? Are there even chuck cheeses around? Are there ANY businesses like this around? So u pay what they ask. And finally as a white person I hate white ppl cuz they complain about EVERYTHING. whiney, never good enough jerks who find fault in everything. Cough up the $40 and watch a child smile.

Well then i guess you are one of the few white people you hate because i don't see anyone complaining other than you. You seem to be quite ignorant to stereotype your own race, talk about making a fool of yourself. All i said was the fact that its pricey for kids which it is. And if you have an arcade no matter what games you have there, its mostly aiming towards the kids coming in. Lets be honest here.

Stop calling me names; fool, racist etc and lets focus on the real point of the conversation, but not before I make generalizations about you:You're a cheapskate and you hate children. That being said, kids in town are wearing ray bans and wearing uggs, $10 isn't alot of money. Ur kind of comment that started this, is the kind of thing that could ruin a business. Telling people its over priced in a town where there's a duxiana store and a starbucks is sending a bad message.

See right there is where you are wrong. Those kids you are talking about aren't red bank residents. That's who I'm talking about the kids of red bank and the fact that we need to make more places for them because obviously you aren't from this fine town. We have many many under privledged children that have no where to go. It's a fact by an opinion like you're making because of seeing rbc kids and other out of towers shopping at expensive stores and wearing expensive items.

Places like this high end shopping stores are the problems here. NO one that actually lives in red bank can shop here. Prowns, steinbachs all those places don't exist anymore and were replaced by stores only people with money can go to. They should be putting those stores in rumson, little silver or at the grove. Not here

I'd rather pay 9$ an hour rather than pay 9$ in a half hour playing the games at a regular arcade where everything's broken. If you have the time to sit on the computer and pay attention to this you have time to take a couple dollars out of yourbank account and give to your kid. And if you don't. Grow up and get a job and get off the computer so your kid can have something to do instead of you getting suckered into an internet troll
