Middletown resident John Curley will lead the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Curley was elected freeholder director by the board during its reorganization meeting on Thursday, Jan. 5 at Biotechnology High School in Freehold Township. Freeholder Thomas Arnone, of Neptune, will serve as deputy director in 2012. “The era of pragmatism starts today,” Curley said. “You don’t spend more than you take in. The Wardell House will return to Shrewsbury’s control following the Monmouth County freeholder board’s decision to terminate a lease on the property. During the governing body’s meeting at the Hall of Records building in Freehold on Thursday, Dec. 22, the freeholders unanimously approved a resolution ending the county’s nine-year agreement with Shrewsbury. “It’s unfortunate that the building was not to be put to the intended use, which was for extended library use for special projects,” Freeholder Lillian Burry said.
