 ing than many parents may believe.\nOn July 18 from 7 to 9 p.m.\, join e
 xperts at Brookdale Community College for a free information session gea
 red toward parents and coaches of youth sports.\n&ldquo\;A concussion is
  a brain injury and should never be passed off as just a &lsquo\;bump on
  the head\,&rsquo\;&rdquo\; said Dr. David Bertone\, PT\, DPT\, OCS\, Ph
 ysical Therapist\, Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist\, and 
 President of db Orthopedic Physical Therapy in Lincroft.\n&ldquo\;We hav
 e been hearing more and more about how concussions are not only sidelini
 ng our children for a few weeks\, but are also causing severe\, long-las
 ting health effects and potential life-threatening injuries. That is why
  we felt it was so important to come together as a community and make su
 re everyone &ndash\; parents and coaches alike &ndash\; are completely e
 ducated about concussion prevention\, identification and treatment.&rdqu
 o\;&nbsp\;\nAccording to research from the Centers for Disease Control a
 nd Prevention\, 38 million kids ages 5 to 18 play organized sports in th
 e United States. Of those children\, one in 10 will suffer a sports or r
 ecreation-related concussion each year.&nbsp\;\nDoctors at the event wil
 l discuss the signs and symptoms of a concussion as well as the potentia
 lly fatal consequences.\nThe event is being held at Brookdale Community 
 College&nbsp\;in the Robert J. Collins Arena.\nProgram registration is r
 equired online at&nbsp\;www.concussionrxcare.com\, or by calling&nbsp\;7
 32-747-1262. The first 100 program registrants will receive Comprehensiv
 e Concussion Baseline Testing for their children at a reduced cost.
