Dog Days of Summer, Movie, Lobster

It's what's going on in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury area on Tuesday.

Well, good Tuesday morning to you, Red Bank-Shrewsbury area friends and fans.

The threat of thunderstorms proved to not become a reality, so the Fair Haven Firemen's Fair next door was on again as usual. And there were a couple of surprise guests to get kids in the back-to-school mode at one booth.

There's another threat of thunderstorms today and tonight, but chances are 40 percent, not 100. There's only a 30 percent chance during the day, and it's supposed to be partly sunny with a high temperature of 83 degrees.

So, in making good use of that end-of-summer sun, here's the tide table information for Sea Bright from sunrise today into tomorrow:

2013-08-27  6:18 AM EDT   Sunrise
2013-08-27  8:08 AM EDT   0.41 feet  Low Tide
2013-08-27  2:45 PM EDT   3.37 feet  High Tide
2013-08-27  7:35 PM EDT   Sunset
2013-08-27  9:03 PM EDT   0.67 feet  Low Tide
2013-08-28  3:12 AM EDT   2.92 feet  High Tide
2013-08-28  5:35 AM EDT   Last Quarter
2013-08-28  6:19 AM EDT   Sunrise

And here are a couple of tidbits about the amount of sunlight and moonlight today and the phase of the moon from www.tides4fishing.com:

"The lunar phase is a Waning Gibbous. Today we will have 13 hours and 16 minutes of sun. The solar transit will be at 12:57 pm and the length of time the moon will be visible will be 13 hours and 51 minutes."

In addition to the fair, today and tonight …

Hotel Transylvania will be showing at Riverside Gardens Park in Red Bank at nightfall, again, courtesy of Shore Flicks.

Red Bank will be going to the dogs again with its second Dog Days of Summer from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monmouth Street. All leashed dogs and masters are welcome to join in and socialize, dine outdoors and shop.

Lunch Break continues its program to collect fresh garden veggies and provide them to those who visit. If you have some garden veggies, share the wealth.

Boondocks Fishery has its usual $24.50 lobster special going on — two lobsters, corn and potatoes.

If we've missed anything, let us know. Oh, and caption the feature pic, if you would. Come on!
