Foul Weather, Fixx, Weekend Fun

It's what's going on in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury area on Thursday.

Good gloomy Thursday morning, friends and fans.

Yes, the rain is coming, so the National Weather Service says. And, it's not being very merciful. Looks like we're going to get a soaking today, with a high temperature of 62 degrees, and through the weekend.

Well, no better time to hunker down, enjoy some indoor activities and, well, read Patch.

Though you probably won't be around the water today, nonetheless, tidal information may interest you, considering the weather.

So, here's that tide table for Sea Bright for today going into tomorrow:

2013-10-10  7:01 AM EDT    Sunrise
2013-10-10  7:17 AM EDT    0.25 feet  Low Tide
2013-10-10  1:48 PM EDT    3.73 feet  High Tide
2013-10-10  6:23 PM EDT    Sunset
2013-10-10  8:11 PM EDT    0.20 feet  Low Tide
2013-10-11  2:24 AM EDT    3.13 feet  High Tide
2013-10-11  7:02 AM EDT    Sunrise
2013-10-11  8:20 AM EDT    0.41 feet  Low Tide

And, here's that mystical sun and moon information for the day from www.tides4fishing.com:

"The moon will rise in the southeast (116º) at 12:52 pm and will set in the southwest (245º) at 10:58 p.m. … The lunar phase is a Waxing Crescent. Today we have 11 hours and 20 minutes of sun. The solar transit is at 12:43 pm and the length of time the moon will be visible will be 10 hours and 6 minutes."

Around the towns …

• Well, charges have been filed against Fixx ownership after the melees that emanated from the place in September and this past weekend. And there's a fine for outstanding fire code violations. See that story.

• Today, on Throwback Thursday, we take a look back at a recent high school grad's first job in 1939 — at the Carlton Theater, now Count Basie. Pretty wild. Ken Lockwood went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy and become an engineer. But he never forgot his first job and the special night there each week. Take a look at the video.

• Who saw Blondie last night at the Basie? Her limo was just pulling away as we left the Red Bank meeting. Pics, anyone? Send them over.

• We'll have more news tidbits from the meeting.

• See what's up in the area and all around the county as far as weekend fun goes.

• And, stay tuned for some local news updates, a business focus and, well, stormy weather.

In the meantime, I'll see you around the towns …
