Meeting, Movies, Dog Days This Week in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury Area

It's what's going on in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury Area This Week.

Happy Monday Red Bank-Shrewsbury area friends and fans!

As summer winds down, the weather is waxing a little weird this week. Looks like today there will be some sun with a high temperature of 82 degrees, but a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms after 7 p.m.

And the weather troll says that scattered thunderstorms threaten through Wednesday night, with most of the threats of scattered showers and thunder at night. Hmmm. Let's hope those little threats stop looming to horn in on our end-of-summer fun here.

And, as usual, we'll be providing the tide table for Sea Bright all week. Here's today's going into tomorrow:

2013-08-26  6:17 AM EDT   Sunrise
2013-08-26  7:22 AM EDT   0.15 feet  Low Tide
2013-08-26  1:56 PM EDT   3.52 feet  High Tide
2013-08-26  7:36 PM EDT   Sunset
2013-08-26  8:05 PM EDT   0.47 feet  Low Tide

As for this week ...

In addition to the Fair Haven Firemen's Fair, which runs every night through Saturday next door, there are quite a few happenings around the towns.

Here's what's happening:

Monday

The Avengers will be showing at Fair Haven Fields at nightfall, courtesy of Shore Flicks. Just bring a non-perishable food item for those in need.

Tuesday

Hotel Transylvania will be showing at Riverside Gardens Park in Red Bank at nightfall, again, courtesy of Shore Flicks.

Red Bank will be going to the dogs again with its second Dog Days of Summer from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monmouth Street. If you didn't make it to the first one with your pooch, head over for a dog-friendly night of socializing, shopping and some educational tools for pet owners. The SPCA also brings pets up for adoption.

Lunch Break continues its program to collect fresh garden veggies and provide them to those who visit. If you have some garden veggies, share the wealth. You can drop them off Monday or Tuesday. Just get them over there. It's a nice opportunity for everyone to have a taste of summer.

Meetings …

Red Bank Borough Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the municipal complex on Monmouth Street.

In the meantime, be sure to check the site for updates on all sorts of stuff this week. There are lots of back-to-school, local government, event and feature stories coming. Oh, and we'll have plenty of fun photo galleries.

If we've missed anything, let us know! In the meantime, see you around the towns …
