Mourning the Chief, Meeting Canceled

It's what's going on in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury area on Wednesday.

Good Wednesday morning, friends and fans.

Looks like we're going to have another fall day of local summer. Now that's an oxymoron for ya.

The sun is out and temperatures are slated to reach the high 60s.

So, if you can get away and have a hankering to get some last waterfront or waterborne moments in, here's the tide table for Sea Bright:

2013-09-25  7:26 AM EDT   0.54 feet  Low Tide
2013-09-25  2:05 PM EDT   3.31 feet  High Tide
2013-09-25  6:47 PM EDT   Sunset
2013-09-25  8:21 PM EDT   0.66 feet  Low Tide
2013-09-26  2:40 AM EDT   2.85 feet  High Tide
2013-09-26  6:47 AM EDT   Sunrise
2013-09-26  8:15 AM EDT   0.74 feet  Low Tide

And, here's your moon and sun information for the day from www.tides4fishing.com:

"Eventually, the moon will rise again in the northeast (64º) at 10:51 p.m. The lunar phase is a Waning Gibbous. Today we have 11 hours and 59 minutes of sun. The solar transit is at 12:47 pm and the length of time the moon will be visible will be 14 hours and 0 minutes."

Around the towns …

• Red Bank is getting ready to say goodbye to its beloved police chief, Steve McCarthy. Flags are at half-staff all over town, with buntings at the municipal complex. It's a tough send-off for the many who worked with, loved and admired the chief. A viewing is slated for tomorrow at John E. Day Funeral Home. More on this later. RIP Chief.

• Due to the chief's death and Mayor Pat Menna's enacting a period of mourning, tonight's Red Bank Borough Council meeting has been cancelled.

• Dog Days of Summer hit its first fall night with a smaller crowd. See the photos posted on the site.

Let us know if we've forgotten anything. And, I'll see you around the towns …
