Two Nights of Cheese, Lantern Tour & Holiday Gala

It's what's going on in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury area on Friday and through the weekend.

Happy Friday, friends and fans!

The weekend is basically here and, as we've already outlined for you, there's a lot of holiday celebrating going on.

Around the towns today and through the weekend …

• Tonight is $5 Fridays at the Cheese Cave. Yup, for $5 you can sample lots of cheeses and appropriate pairings starting at 5 p.m. AND, there's going to be a second $5 Fridays on Saturday at Salon Concrete as a benefit. Click here for more information.

• On Saturday, the tree lighting is happening on the West Side of Red Bank. Click here for information on that and all other good weekend happenings in the area, such as an exhibit of John Lennon's artwork and a lantern tour of historic Shrewsbury.

• Then, there are lots of things going on in the surrounding area. Check out our Monmouth County round-up of events by clicking here.

Weather, sun, moon and tides …

• Well, it's a bit damp and rainy, but the forecast calls for clear skies tonight. Good news for the tree lightings, which were a bit soggy last year.

• For your own information, your dose of sun, moon and tide tidbits is right here.

We have some updates and police news.

So, stay tuned and I'll see you around the towns this weekend …
