Many apps today allow you to practice different sections at a time, i.e., math, writing, and critical thinking (SAT) along with science and English on the ACT.  With that said, it is important to choose apps that have received high marks.  You will find some excellent free apps as well as those you may need to purchase.  To assist you in navigating the best apps, here is a list of the top 5 SAT / ACT apps worthy of consideration.

SATup: This app has a bigger following than the official SAT app!  This prepares you for every section on the SAT with detailed analytics, step-by step explanations, and over 400 questions.  It also gives you the standard formatted SAT score at the end of each quiz and a percentile score for students entering the college of their choice.

SAT Connect: This app is not staying free for very long, but even purchasing this app is worthwhile given its tools: 7 diagnostic tests, 4,000 words, over 1,000 fully-explained test questions and a ton more.  You will receive real-time feedback, approximate SAT scores and time performance, and a baseline percentile compared to other app users.

IntelliVocab lite for SAT: If you struggle with vocabulary or hate vocab flash cards, then this app is just for you.  It uses algorithms and web semantics to figure out your best personal quizzing strategy.  The more you practice, the more the app learns about the types of vocabulary words that will trip you up.

ACE the SAT: This is a free app that consistently develops new questions and keeps track of projected SAT scores and how much time is used.  Each and every question solved helps the app deliver a more precise test crafted for your level.

ACT ACE from TestSoup: The #1 best selling on-the-go study solution for the ACT exam. This app offers over 325 high-quality flashcards anytime, anywhere in the world.  ACT Ace will give you a solid math, English, reading, writing and science review while testing your knowledge with hundreds or example questions.
