“Roll Out The Ribbons” Hosts Free Movie Night by the Beach

Grab your beach chairs and blankets for a FREE family-friendly outdoor movie night hosted by Monmouth Medical Center’s Roll Out The Ribbons cancer awareness campaign at The Great Lawn, Beachfront North, in Long Branch on Sunday, July 21 at 8 p.m.

The evening screening of The Sandlot  - a popular American sports comedy film about a group of young baseball players during the summer of 1962 -  is sponsored by Party Flicks, an outdoor media and cinema company. Sunday’s event is part of Monmouth Medical Center’s larger efforts to raise awareness of cancers of every type, and educate the community about preventive care and early detection. During the movie, attendees will have the opportunity to dedicate personalized, multi-colored Ribbons of Honor to be tied to the “Promenade of Hope” along the Long Branch boardwalk. Optional donations will benefit programs and services for patients and family members of both the Leon Hess Cancer Center and The Valerie Fund Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.

Since the July 4th public campaign launch at Oceanfest, over 1,000 ribbons have been tied with messages of hope and healing to symbolize a united front in the fight against cancer.

The Promenade of Hope will be filled with ribbons through Labor Day. The campaign will then move indoors for September and October to honor pediatric, prostate and breast cancer awareness months.

Additional Roll Out The Ribbons events will take place throughout the summer including Thursdays by the Sea, July 18, 25 and August 1, the Colon Cancer Alliance Undy 5000 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk on July 20, and the Monmouth Park Joes vs. Jockeys Mini Golf Festival on July 26.
