Hurricane Irene Aftermath: Shrewsbury

Power outages and fallen trees are Shrewsbury's biggest concerns

A drive through Shrewsbury the day after Hurricane Irene hit New Jersey revealed down trees, a few down power lines, and lots of houses in the dark.

More than 750 Shrewsbury households are without power as of 5 p.m., according to JCP and L.

Along Shrewsbury Avenue, the only businesses open for business seemed to be Rite Aid and McDonald's. The lines snaked around the parking lot of McDonald's, Shrewsbury Ave, as residents waited in line for food and coffee.
