Last Chance: Kick Start Walk

The Mayors Wellness Campaign event is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday.

The Mayors Wellness Campaigns Community Kick Start Walk is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, in Marine Park. 

The walk will begin at 11 am in Marine Park and travel a one mile loop as to Riverside Gardens Park and back. In addition to the walk, the Mayors Wellness Committee will offer educational items, healthy snacks and refreshments and free t-shirts to the first 100 walkers.  

Melissa Kostinas, Director of the State Mayors Wellness Campaign and “Hopscotch,” from the Pawsitive Action Team at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, will also be on hand, according to a release.

The Mayor’s Wellness Committee is part of the New Jersey Mayors’ Wellness Campaign and operates under the mission statement “Creating a Healthier Community – Today, Tomorrow, Together.”  The Committee is comprised of Borough officials, residents, and representatives of the business community.  The Committee has previously coordinated an Employee Health Fair for employees of the Borough.

The mission of the New Jersey Mayors’ Wellness Campaign is to equip mayors and other key leaders with the tools to develop and implement active-living initiatives in their communities with the ultimate goal of improving health and reducing the skyrocketing health care costs that come with the obesity problem in New Jersey.
