Last Chance: YMCA Healthy Kids Day

This year's event features former NFL player Lonnie Allgood.

The Community YMCA of Red Bank is hosting its annual YMCA Healthy Kids Day this Saturday, April 28 from 3 to 5 p.m. at its recently renovated on Maple Street.

The free event is designed to encourage families and children to stay physically and intellectually active all summer long, according to a release from the organization. In addition to fun and educational activities for the children, the Y is welcoming Lonnie Allgood, former NFL wide receiver and founder and CEO of Dreams for Kids, a mentorship program designed to inspire kids to reach their full potential.

Allgood graduated from Red Bank Regional High School before attending Syracuse University and finally playing for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Allgood, along with State Sen. Jennifer Beck, R-12, will announce the winning teams in the Y's Healthy Kids Day Step Challenge, a walking challenge being attempted by students from 12 area schools.

The event is free and all are welcome to attend.
