Now that FEMA has relented and helped pay for the reconstruction, the Ocean Grove boardwalk is nearly done.

The boardwalk was wrecked by Hurricane Sandy but no public money was supposed to be spent on its rebuilding since it's considered private property.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for July 6.

That's not a smart statement. How would it be if they were able to only use private funds, could they then say only selected people could walk the boards?

They refused to allow a gay couple hold a wedding on 'their' boardwalk. The court only upheld it because this WAS a private boardwalk, paid for with funds from their religious meeting association...Looks like they do not have that legal excuse now, having accepted PUBLIC funds! It is now only a matter of time before they are challenged on this religious prohibition.

Sorry, Edit my post. I left the word 'to' out of my first sentence.

This is how new legal precedents are created. They voided the original claim The Ocean Grove Meeting Association used in court to deny access by accepting public funds. To put it simply... Private OGMA money = Private OGMA rules. FEMA = Federal money= Federal rules.
