More Love for Injured Cyclist Cole Porter as Condition Remains the Same

People are sending pictures and prayers from all over the world.

The love just keeps flowing for Cole Porter.

And as people from all over the world post their prayers and continue to dedicate runs, rides and swims to him, the Shrewsbury cyclist who was seriously injured in an accident in the Tour de Fair Haven race a couple of weeks ago remains in stable condition, but still in a coma, according to a Facebook post on the PorterHouse Support Group page dedicated to Porter.

"Meg asked that I provide an update on Cole's progress this week," said Tom Vogel, family-designated friend providing Porter's condition updates, in a post dated Sept. 27. "He has been stable the last few days, however he remains in a coma. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers that he wakes up soon. Please also keep sending Megan and family lots of love and prayers too."

In the meantime, a 3.5-mile swim was organized for Porter this past Sunday, from Sandy Hook to Sea Bright and back, to pool together more of the love for Porter that those who know him say "saves the day."

Swimmers donned pink bathing caps — and some even wore pink suits — in his honor. Pink is said to be Porter's favorite color. He considers it "sassy," a PorterHouse post said. Click here for photos from one of the swimmers.

And, that spirit in mind, pink has been popping up all over, from the caps to shirts to even soccer socks at local games.

"Our prayers are certainly with him," Shrewsbury Mayor Donald Burden said today of the borough fireman at Red Bank's West Side Lofts groundbreaking.

Fair Haven Mayor Ben Lucarelli is a friend of Porter's, who says he, too, just keeps praying and sending out positive thoughts for someone he says is "probably one of the nicest people I've ever known."
