New Area Farmers Market Already an Early Success

Organizers are already excited after the first two weeks of the

Market Manager Pamela Caputo said the market had about 500 visitors last Sunday, and that she expects double that today, Aug. 12. It's similar to the success of Red Bank's farmers market, which regulary draws hundreds of visitors to the Galleria parking lot each Sunday.

Caputo said the market will now begin at 10 a.m. to accommodate some of the participating vendors who pick their produce on Sunday.

One of those vendors is Krowicki Farms, which will arrive with corn, eggplant, plum tomatoes, blackberries, raspberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, peaches, nectarines, pluots, peppers, zucchini squash, onions, potatoes, beets, garlic, radishes, scallions, cherry tomatoes, blueberries, figs, string beans, lima beans, honey dew melon, chrenshaw melon and okra, according to Caputo.

For those looking for something freshly-baked, Breadsmith will be on hand with an assortment of artisan, preservative-free loaves of bread, slices of foccaccia, scones, cookies, brownies and crumb cakes.

Romarsi Organic Pesto will be selling their signature pesto and ReCreate will be bringing along their unique creations.

Amish CreamRich Farm will have organic, grass-fed hamburgers and hot dogs that can be grilled and eaten at the park.

High Mountain Foods will have flash frozen crab cakes, coconut mango-encrusted tilapia fillets, and a variety of ravioli.

Gourmet Nuts, Dried Fruits, and Organic Figs will be a new addition to the market this weekend with some healthy snacks.

Next week, homemade dog treats created by Jode's Happy Trail will available for visitors canine companions.

The farmers' market is held each Sunday and free parking will be available in the three municipal lots on Throckmorton, Broad, & Lewis Street.
