Antoinette Boulangerie's Baking, Bustling

There are a few new buns in the oven on Monmouth Street in Red Bank — French bread and patisserie at Antoinette Boulangerie.

The place opened recently to the traditional boulangerie delight of many. Boulangerie means bread shop or bakery — French bakery.

And all is authentically French, from the breads and pastries to the style of the shop. Everything is baked on the premises as well.

On the menu are freshly baked ham and cheese, chocolate, almond and chocolate almond croissants. The staff tells us that the pain au chocolate and chocolate almond croissants are very popular as are the tarts, petit pastries and cookies. Ever have a macaron?

Then there's the bread: baguette, batard, brioche and herb bread. The staff advises that if you're picking up a loaf for dinner, you should probably grab an extra to pick on for the ride home, as you won't be able to resist a nibble or ten.

“With so many locals asking for baguette and French rolls, it will be nice to offer them a taste of our boulangerie that is baked on the premises," said Ayca User, founding owner and general manager in a release. "Some of our items on the menu like; ‘Peanut Butter Bombe’ and Rose Panna Cotta’ will be delightful and surely satisfying.”

The boulangerie's chef and co-founding owner is Zeynep Ozdemir; and Red Bank resident Gina Roselle-Broschart is executive pastry chef.

Antoinette Boulangerie is the only fully French bakery in Red Bank. The staff told Patch that business has been booming since the opening on Jan. 2.

If you need to brush up on your French boulangerie knowledge, check out the website. Each item is described and a bit of history is offered.

The shop, at 32 Monmouth Street, is open Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
