Photographer Steve Scanlon's 'Christmas Seals of Sandy Hook' Broadcast on My9

Scanlon's 2014 calendar is for sale

Call it the Christmas Seals of Sandy Hook story.

Steve Scanlon grew up in Fair Haven. He knows, loves and appreciates the area as much as any native could.

So, as a testament to his upbringing and kinship with the Navesink and Shrewsbury rivers and Sandy Hook Bay, the landscaper became a photographer, capturing mostly waterfront scenes in the area.

The latest was a Christmas gift of sorts. His brother Harry alerted him to the presence of about 90 seals resting in the inlet on the Sandy Hook Bay on Christmas Day. Steve caught the shot the day after Christmas, named it Christmas Seals of Sandy Hook, and news outlets caught up with him.

"In case you missed it, here’s the 36-second clip from last night’s Channel 9 broadcast on Chasing New Jersey," Scanlon said in a post on Scanlon Photography's Facebook page.

"And I also what to thank my brother Harry, for if it weren't for his tip of the seals presence, none of this seal-mania would have happened. Thank you Harry!"

Yes, thanks Harry! Check it out. Scanlon's work, as most know, is for sale. In fact, he has recently unveiled his 2014 calendar. Check his Facebook page for more information.
