Plotting Out a Garden

Shrewsbury's community garden is well underway. Soil has been tilled, post holes dug. It's nearly there.

When folks in Shrewsbury say something's going to get done, it gets done.

With the goal of , work constructing the borough's new community garden is well underway. The ground has been tilled, plots outlined, post holes dug and posts stuck in the ground.

In about a week, no more than two, according to a borough employee on hand Tuesday afternoon, the fence protecting the garden from hungry critters will be installed and planting can begin as soon as the community gardeners take over the spot.

Shrewsbury's community gardeners came to the with the request to let them plant. Though it took some time, most of it due to the need to draft rules and regulations, allocate open space funding, and find an appropriate location with decent soil, members of the council and garden committee alike were on board with the plan and worked towards clearing the hurdles as they came over the past several months.

The garden is located on the large field in front of the municipal complex on Sycamore Avenue.
