Red Bank Gets SantaCon'd

Santas take over Red Bank's bar scene Saturday for a first ever local SantaCon.

Red Bankers were seeing, um, Red Saturday as dozens of Santas and Santa’s helpers took to the streets for the borough’s . Modeled after celebrations worldwide – according to the unofficial SantaCon website, more than 226 Santa conventions in 32 countries were scheduled this year – the event asked patrons to dress up as the jolly, fat man all in the name of a good time.

The local SantaCon was developed by Alex Federico and Dan Campbell, two guys all about good times, who used the event as a way to raise money for the Red Bank Middle School Athletics Foundation. Participating Santas were asked to purchase a wrist ban and in turn were treated to drink specials at select watering holes throughout downtown Red Bank.

The all-day event looked to be a success with Santas starting their journey promptly at noon at the and then spreading out through the borough’s streets to spread good cheer and drink good beer.
