Red Bank Nonprofits Awarded Horizon Grants

Arts Council gets $10,000, VNA awarded $25,000

Two Red Bank nonprofits were recently awarded grants from the Horizon Foundation of New Jersey to support their missions.

The Monmouth County Arts Council received a grant of $10,000, and the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey received an award of $25,000. Both were among 49 nonprofits statewide to receive $939,000 in the fourth round of Horizon's 2012 grants.

“The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey supports New Jersey nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life in our state,” said Robert A Marino, Horizon Chairman & CEO and Foundation board chairman. “The approved grants will help to address important public health issues while also supporting programs that provide New Jersey residents with artistic and cultural enrichment.”

The Arts Council's grant will support the 2012-13 Monmouth County Teen Arts Festival, according to a release from Horizon. The VNA will use its $25,000 grant to support its school-based nurse practitioner health services program, which provides students and their caregivers in five school districts in Middlesex and Monmouth counties with prevention and health literacy education, screenings, physicals, chronic disease management and self-management education.

Since January 2012, the Foundation has awarded more than $6.7 million in grants to 128 organizations. In the past eight years, The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey has awarded more than 820 grants totaling nearly $30 million to support New Jersey non-profit organizations.
