Red Bank's Busy Weekend Blitz

Shows, Flavour festival and town-wide yard sale.

An event-packed weekend in Red Bank is all starting tonight with a show and a poetry reading and winding up with the ever-popular International Flavour Festival on Sunday.

Here's what's going on ...

Friday:

• Curtain is 8 p.m. for tonight's performance of Stefanie Zadravec's The Electric Baby at The Two River Theater, which is featuring NJ native celeb Danny DeVito's daughter. The show runs through May 5 with tickets priced $24 to $42.

• Phoenix Productions' run of Anything Goes goes into closing weekend at the Count Basie Theater, Monmouth Street tonight at 8 p.m. The show is also on for 8 p.m. Saturday and a 3 p.m. matinee and closing.

• Gallery U is hosting a poetry reading, dubbed "An Evening of Spoken Word by Local Writers as part of its Poetry U series. The event runs from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Broad Street gallery and features readings from Laury Egan, Robert Langdon and tony Ciavolella, among others. 

Saturday:

• Saturday's the day for the borough's town-wide yard sale, the proceed of which benefit the Red Bank Library. Anyone is welcome to peruse all of Red Bank for the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. bargain hunt. Nearly 100 households are participating.

• Clean Ocean Action's Spring Beach Sweeps are being held all along the Jersey shore. In Red Bank, the location for the sweep is at the Swimming River at the foot of Drs. James Parker Boulevard, officials reminded all at the Monday night meeting. The sweep is being conducted from 9 a.m. to noon.

• As part of Mayor Pat Menna's Wellness Campaign, the YMCA is holding Healthy Kids Day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The free event, held at the Maple Avenue Y, will feature a walking tour of Red Bank, educational games and more.

• At the Red Bank Library, not only can people find maps to guide them through the town-wide yard sale, but a free concert will be featured from 2 to 4 p.m. highlighting the music of Mary Koth Lutton, who sings and plays guitar and piano.

Sunday:

Sunday's the day for the second annual downtown International Flavour Festival from noon to 7 p.m. in the White Street parking area.

The event will feature the food of Red Bank restaurants, international beers and wines and live music.

The fee is $5, with children under 10 admitted free; and the festival will run rain or shine.
