Red Bank's Guidance for the Nor'Easter

The borough of Red Bank issued the following statement concerning the nor'easter on Wednesday afternoon. Please be advised:

A slow moving winter coastal storm warning is in effect for our area. 

The storm is expected to be in our area from Wednesday through Thursday bringing rain/snow and high winds as well as coastal flooding. It will be a heavy wet snow, which combined with strong winds, could bring down trees and power lines.

Off-street parking is urged for all streets to assist with effective snow removal. However, parking is completely prohibited on when snow covers the following streets or parts of streets and sides:

Bodman Place, both from Riverside Avenue to the end • Broad Street, both from Harding Road to Front Street • Brower Place, both From Morford Place to Bridge Avenue • Canal Street, both from Broad Street to Hudson Avenue • Catherine Street, both from Leighton to Tilton Avenue • Chapin Avenue, both From Munson Place to the western end • Drummond Place, both Monmouth Street to Peters Place • Hudson Avenue, both from Linden Place to Harding Road • Linden Place, both from Broad to Spring Street • Mechanic Street, both from Broad  to Spring Street • Monmouth Street, both from Broad Street to Shrewsbury Avenue • Morford Place, both from Front Street to Brower Place • Tilton Avenue, both from Catherine to River Street • Wallace Street, both from Broad to Spring Street • Waverly Place, both from Broad Street to Maple Avenue • White Street, both from Broad Street to Maple Avenue

Isolated power outages are possible. JCP&L has additional crews on hand to assist with restoration and warns the public not to approach any downed wires. 

All downed wires should be assumed to be "live" wires and should be reported to JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS. Any resident losing power must contact JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS to report the outage. The utility bases their response on the number of reports from an area so all outages must be reported.

Please do not call Police Headquarters to report power outages or for snow removal updates so as to keep emergency lines clear. We will send additional alerts and post information to our website as it becomes available. Information is also available through our borough information line at 732-345-0885.

JCP&L has issued the following information:

As part of JCP&L’s storm response plan, we’re closely tracking the severe storm that is expected to bring heavy rains and wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour to our service area tomorrow into Thursday.  

In anticipation of the severe weather, all available JCP&L crews and support personnel are prepared to work around the clock to restore service should weather-related outages occur.  Other steps we’re taking to prepare for the storm include:

• Bringing in more than 120 line personnel and hazard responders from FirstEnergy’s Ohio utilities to support restoration efforts

• Securing 120 tree contractor crews to respond to tree-related conditions

• Communicating with emergency management officials, state officials, regulators and local officials about our storm preparation efforts

• Activating the JCP&L storm information page on the 24/7 Power Center

• Notifying well water and life support customers about the potential for power outages
