Rocking The River with Plenty of Rock and Roll Music

Approximately 150 people turn out for Rock the River Saturday night at Riverside Gardens Park

The Navesink River was really rocking Saturday night at Riverside Gardens Park in Red Bank. An amusement area with several rides across West Front Street from the park seemed to delight children as well.

Approximately 150 people turned out to hear three bands: Matt O'Ree Band, Quincy Mumford Band and Human Wheels playing the music of John Cougar Mellencamp.

Music lovers relaxed  sitting in beach chairs and blankets to hear the cool sounds of the three bands.

The amusement area had several rides set up such as a plastic obstacle course for kids.

"I had a very good time on the purple obstacle course in the amusement area," said Francie Teneyzk, 8, of Washington Borough, NJ

Francie was with her sister, Suzanne Teneyzk as they climbed through the course.

The obstacle course and a yellow twirly type ride were also favorites.

"I am having a lot of fun in the amusement area in the obstacle course and the twirly ride," Madison Blaustein, 7 said. Madison was with her sister, Danielle for the fun on the rides.

Meanwhile, across the street at Riverside Gardens Park it was the music that delighted the crowd.

"I love the music and this type of music resonates with me, and I really like this music a lot," said Isabel Deliberti of Brick Township. Delberti was listening to the Matt O' Ree Band.

A Cranford teenager was also into the music of the Matt O' Ree Band.

"I really like the group playing now. It's the organist who is really the backbone of the Matt O'Ree Band," Ian Hay, 15 said.

A Little Falls woman was also digging the sounds of the Matt O' Ree Band.

"I think they are a very tight and crisp sounding band, and they are really great, and have a good variety of music," Justine said. She added that she came to Red Bank for the music.

The Matt O'Ree Band was really a hit with an Interlaken family.

"I think they (Matt O' Ree Band) areally great and I loved the music, and they sounded great and looked cool," Nancy Kane said. Nancy was with her husband, John and son, JD Kane, 4.

As the Quincy Mumford Band took the stage, concert-goers also seemed to enjoy the sounds.

"I am enjoying the outdoor festivities of music here in Red Bank, and my niece, Karlee Bloomfield is on the keyboard for the Quincy Mumford Band," said Kelly McMillan of Atlanta, GA.

For Emma Coleman, 25, of Plainsboro her boyfriend was playing the trumpet for the Quincy Mumford Band.

"I think they (Quincy Mumford) is awesome and my boyfriend, Neil Winkler is playing the trumpet, and I am just enjoying the music," Emma said.

Tim Mumford, 23, whose brother is Quincy Mumford believes his brother's band is going to reach stardom some day.

"I think Quincy Mumford is amazing and he is going to be a star in  the future on the music scene," Tim said.

Nancy Baker of Middletown was really having a good time listening to the sounds of Quincy Mumford.

"I really like Quincy Mumford's music, and I am having a real good time--beautiful night and an awesome view of the river."
