Shrewsbury's Holiday Event Schedule

A list of upcoming holiday events in Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury is celebrating the holiday season with several schedule events this year.

This Saturday, Dec. 1, Shrewsbury is holding its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 4 p.m. at the borough hall gazebo on Sycamore Avenue. Festivities include light snacks and baked goods, caroling led by kindergarten and first grade students from Shrewsbury Boro School, a performance by the SBS choir, and a special visit from Kris Kringle.

And, feel free to bring a small wrapped gift to donate to SBS's holiday toy drive.

Both the tree lighting and the Menorah lighting are rain or shine events.

On Sunday, Dec. 2, Santa Claus will be attending the Pancake Breakfast with Santa at Shrewsbury Hose Company at 783 Broad St. The event, hosted by the fire department and its Ladies Auxiliary, is being held from 9 a.m. to noon.

Admission is $7 and children under 2 are free.

Pictures with Santa and ornaments will be available for an additional donation.

Rounding out the borough's holiday event schedule is an early visit from the jolly one himself, this time he comes bearing gifts. Santa is coming to town on Dec. 16 and he's willing to pay you a visit, though he needs a bit of help first.

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Santa will happily spend a few minutes chatting with your children, posing for pictures, and delivering one small gift in advance of Christmas. Families who'd like to participate are asked to drop off their gifts to Athlete's Alley at 483 Broad St., between Wednesday and Dec. 12.

According to a release from Santa's helpers:

Your gifts should be no larger than 9” x 15” x 4”, clearly marked with your child's name, address, age, and gender, on a card that can be easily removed from the package. Also, please include some small tidbit about your child so Santa knows something special about him or her. And remember keep your lights on so Santa can find the right house!

While you're at it, please donate a small wrapped gift for a child in need or non-perishable food items to Athlete's Alley.
