Thousands of Books, Dollars Donated to Help Kids with Bridge of Books

Six thousand books and a donation of $5,000 were delivered to the Red Bank storage facility.

Kyra Citron, of Brielle, director of Kid’s Corner at the Charles Lafitte Foundation, delivered 6,000 books and a $5,000 donation to the Bridge of Books Foundation at its storage space in Red Bank recently.

A passionate reader and active volunteer in her community, Citron organized two annual book drives within her school and community through Kid’s Corner.  To date, through her drives, more than 15,000 gently-used and new books have been collected for Bridge of Books, a non-profit organization through which books are provided to underprivileged children throughout New Jersey.

The intent of the organization is to support literacy skills and encourage a love of reading by providing books to those who cannot afford them.

In addition, the Charles Lafitte Foundation is a family charity that supports organizations in the areas of education, children’s advocacy, medical research and the arts.
