VNA CEO Dr. Steven Landers Appointed to CHAP Board

Landers began his tenure on the board Jan. 1.

Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc. (CHAP, Inc.) has announced the appointment of Visiting Nurse Association Health Group CEO Dr. Steven Landers, MD, MPH, to its Board of Directors. 

“CHAP is excited to have leaders of Dr. Landers’ caliber join our Board of Directors," CHAP President and CEO Karen Collishaw said in a released statement. "CHAP continues to grow in response to the increasing demand for excellence in home and community-based care, and these new members bring a wealth of skills and experience from the industry, broadening the board's depth and knowledge."

Dr. Landers became one of three appointees to a four-year term on the organization’s 16-member board starting Jan. 1, according to a VNA release.

VNA is the nation’s second largest non-profit home healthcare organization, and a CHAP-accredited provider.

As a certified family physician and geriatrician, Dr. Landers places a strong emphasis on house calls to the vulnerable elderly.

Specializing in geriatric medicine, home health, hospice and palliative care, he has authored several articles on the role of home care in national publications, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association.

In 2009, Dr. Landers was honored as the National Association of Home Care and Hospice Physician of the Year.

CHAP's Board of Directors oversees CHAP policy and is comprised of volunteer industry leaders representing home and community-based healthcare providers, consumers and other industry stakeholders.
