Wet Forecast Starts August on a Soggy Note

A look at the forecast for Red Bank and Shrewsbury this week.

August has officially arrived and the National Weather Service is predicting a wet week to start the month.

The forecast for the next few days looks to be relatively mild but there is a chance of showers for most of the week and a likelihood of thunderstorms later in the week.

Monday looks to be the last day of pure sunshine with a high near 77. The temperature will dip to around 61 Monday night and there is a chance of showers developing after 2 a.m. according to the latest forecast.

There is at least a slight chance of showers on Tuesday with storms likely developing after 2 p.m. with a high near 76. Showers could continue into the night with a low around 65 and could run into Wednesday when the temperature returns to around 81 during the day. Any accumulation during this time is expected to be minimal except during some stronger thunderstorms that could roll through our area.

Wednesday night’s forecast calls for a low of around 69 with a consistent 50 percent chance of showers running into Thursday and through Thursday night. The low temperature for Wednesday night is expected to be around 69 before rising back up to a high of 84 on Thursday. Thursday night’s low is expected to be around 71 before another high of 84 during the day on Friday and a low of 68 on Friday night.

By the time Saturday rolls around the storms are expected to pass again making for a much needed sunny weekend heading into next week.
