A Lifelong Passion in Portrait

Local artist Artie Andersen's work is on display at Jamian's on Monmouth Street.

Currently on display at Jamian’s on Monmouth Street through the month are the assorted works of Red Bank resident Artie Andersen. A lifelong artist, it wasn’t until he was 37 that Andersen gave his passion his full attention, going back to school to study portraiture and figure painting.

Name dropping the likes of Michelangelo, Winslow Homer, and Andrew Wyeth as inspirations, Andersen attempts to capture the character of his subjects and put it on canvas.
