David Banegas Paints for Charity

The Bolivian-born artist hosted a live-painting event and fundraiser to benefit the Jed Foundation.

David Banegas has made a point of using his talent to benefit a number of good causes. From relief efforts in Haiti to raising money for Africa, the Bolivian-born artist, who opened the David Banegas Studio in downtown Red Bank, has given back to a number of good causes.

At his Broad Street gallery recently, Banegas hosted a fund raising and awareness campaign for Love is Louder, a movement dedicated to showing love and support to anyone who's ever felt mistreated, misunderstood, or alone. The product of a collaboration between youth suicide prevent organization The Jed Foundation, MTV, and Brittany Snow, Love is Louder seeks to identify and address issues like bullying and discrimination.

Dozens were on hand to watch Banegas paint live and help raise funds for the outreach program. Check out some sights and sounds from the recent event and listen to why Banegas feels a responsibility to give back.
