MCM Hosts Armenian Composer & Pianist in Concert
The Monmouth of Conservatory of Music features Armenian pianist & composer Karén Hakobyan in concert on November 19th at 4:00 pm. Since 1964, the Monmouth Conservatory has been the only non-profit music school in Monmouth County offering high quality music education and showcasing exceptional musicians from around the world in our concerts.
Karén Hakobyan is a highly accomplished classical musician of his generation. He has won numerous awards for both piano and composition and has performed throughout Europe, South America, and the United States. In 2004 he won the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Competition and in 2010 won Bronze Medal in the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati. Mr. Hakobyan also deserves high praises for his musicianship and awards held in Armenia. He has performed with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Armenia's "Serenade" Chamber Orchestra and the Armenian National Chamber Orchestra. He has been a top prize winner in the Armenian Legacy Pianists International Piano Competition (2nd prize) and in a competition co-hosted by the Armenian Musical Assembly he was awarded the Amadeus Diploma for Composition in 1998 for his "Two Pieces for String Quartet.”
The Monmouth Conservatory is dedicated to enriching the community with unique concert experiences that our talented and accomplished guest artists can offer. We are one of Monmouth County’s largest non-profit supporters of classical music, culture, education and the arts. We hope that members of the Armenian community and classical music community attend this special concert to show support for his musical achievements and contributions. He will be performing works by Beethoven, Ravel, Balakirev and his own composition and a reception will follow after the concert.
