RBR Campers to Perform 'Kamp Kaos'

Auditions were held Monday for the August performance.

Soon it'll be show time for Red Bank Regional High School's (RBR's)Visual and Performing Arts Summer Academy.

After Monday auditions, the cast will get to work on a production of Stephen Murray’s Kamp Kaos, set for Thursday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. at the RBR auditorium, 101 Ridge Road Little Silver. All seats are $5 (at the door), according to the RBR blog on Patch.

The show is an Eldridge Production featuring the fun antics of campers and counselors with lively, rock-n-roll tinged musical numbers, so apropos for the RBR camp performers.

Spots are still available for the three-week session in both the Musical Theatre and the Visual Arts tracks which begin on the same day as auditions. The camp is open to students entering the sixth, seventh, eighth or ninth grades from Monmouth County and surrounding areas, the blog added.

The RBR Summer Academy of the Arts provides an exploratory visual and performing arts program for middle school students and rising freshmen, including many of RBR's Visual and Performing Art Academy students.

The program is offered over five weeks in the summer and is divided into a first half, two week rotation of all visual and performing arts including dance, drama, crafts, creative writing, piano, percussion, photography, visual art and vocal music.

During the final three weeks, campers choose to concentrate on either the musical theatre tract (including acting, dancing and singing) or the visual arts tract, which includes fine arts and handcrafts.
