Weinberg began playing drums from an early age. He got his first big break in 1974 when he won an audition to become a drummer in the Bruce Springsteen Band. He played with Springsteen until the band was dissolved in 1989.

Following his success with Springsteen, Weinberg went on to form The Max Weinberg 7 and landed the role of bandleader for Late Night with Conan O’Brien. In 1999, Springsteen resurrected the E Street Band, and Weinberg enjoyed a two pronged success as he was able to both tour with Springsteen and continue his role on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.

For the Count Basie performance, Weinberg teams up with Grammy Award winning vocalist Bill Champlin (formerly of Chicago), and saxophone player Mindi Abair to create an eclectic sound of pop, funk and rock and roll.

Kick the weekend off right by sharing laughs with The Capitol Steps on Friday, Oct. 28. The Capitol Steps are a political satire, musical sketch comedy group made up of current and former Congressional staffers. They have been bringing down the house since 1981.

The group focuses on the humorous side of politics. They use personalities on Capitol Hill, the Oval Office, and worldwide to create a scene that will make even the most ardent political followers laugh out loud.

Their show takes a bi-partisan approach to all the current news, and is a mix of musical theatre and dramatic satire. As they say, they truly put the “MOCK in democracy,” like no other satirists can.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, stop by Count Basie to catch a performance Bob Bandiera and The Jersey Shore Rock n’ Soul Revue.

This year, the group will be celebrating the music of the American Graffiti era—the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. Bandiera brings the music to life with a 15 piece band, and lets the crowd rock out to music made famous by such legends as Elvis Presley, The Platters, The Dubs, The Coasters, Chuck Perry and many others.

Round out the week with a little culture when the NJ Symphony Orchestra comes to the stage on Sunday, Oct. 30 to perform their 63rd Anniversary concert. They will perform Halloween Tricks and Mountainous Treats, Cascadian Concerto, Symphony Fantastique. There will be a pre-concert talk beginning at 2:15 p.m.
