Zebu Open Mic Night Rolls On

Weekly open-mic event at Zebu Forno in Red Bank celebrating six months of performances.

It started when Red Bank was still knee-deep, strike that, waist deep in snow and ice. Thin, snowlined trenches lined the streets to Zebu Forno's first open mic event back in January. And despite the artic hold winter had on the night, that inaugural event was hot inside, a standing room only crowd filled the dowtown cafe. Local poet and spoken word impresario Jay B, the creator of the Zebu Open Mic was confident then that a regular night of poetry and song would persist.

Half a year later, with sweat on his brow, not a chill in his bones, Jay B is still filling Zebu's backroom performance space and still filling a weekly bill of poets and singers for the local audience.
