Seeking NEW Backpacks & School Supplies for Local Children

Asbury Park, NJ, July 2013 – For many kids, back-to-school season is an exciting time filled with shopping for new clothing, notebooks, backpacks and more. Unfortunately, many families don’t have the funds to buy new clothes or school supplies. To help local children brighten up their back to school experience and have the supplies they need, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties (BBBSMMC), is teaming up with Starbucks and other local businesses for their 13th Annual School Supply Drive.

The goal of the School Supply Drive is to collect donations of NEW backpacks and supplies from Monmouth & Middlesex County residents, businesses and other organizations and to then give generously filled backpacks to children in need.

Donations of NEW backpacks and supplies will be accepted from now through August 15th at our office: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties - 305 Bond Street, 2nd floor - Asbury Park, NJ 07712

“Our mentoring programs help instill the importance of education in our Little Brothers and Sisters.  Thanks to support from the community, last year’s event made it possible for 150 local children to have the supplies they needed to begin school” remarked William Salcedo, Executive Director of BBBSMMC.  Backpacks full of donated school items will be distributed at a party hosted by the Monmouth Mall, Eatontown, for the children in the BBBSMMC program on Wednesday, August 21st and also at a soon to be determined location in Middlesex County.

The vision of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties is that all children achieve success in life.  BBBSMMC is a donor-supported, volunteer agency that is currently serving over 500 children by providing one-to-one mentoring and the agency is funded through individual gifts, grants and special events.
