Message Received: Go Naked and Check Yourself

Hundreds gather to raise money and awareness for the fight against detectable cancers.

No, Mayor Pat Menna did not show up in a , despite publicly announcing he would. Still, it’d be tough to call the inaugural Go Naked and Check Yourself event held Sunday at anything less than a great success as dozens of businesses and approximately 250 people helped raise money and awareness for detectable cancers.

The event, organized by and , featured plenty of champagne, haute fashion, and gourmet hors d'oeuvres served by lingerie-clad models throughout the evening.

In all, 63 local businesses contributed to the event with either donations of money or items made available in a silent auction. Chris Paseka, co-owner of Sugarush, said prior to the event that more than 100 percent of the proceeds raised from ticket sales would be donated to the , which provides support care for cancer sufferers and their families on a local level.

According to Paseka, the event, which included sales of $200 VIP tables, was completely sold out.
