Riverview a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

The Women's Center at the Red Bank hospital earned the designation recently.

Riverview Medical Center has been designated a Breast Cancer Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, the Red Bank hospital's Women's Center recently announced.

The center earned the designation by earning accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, according to a release. 

"The entire team worked diligently to receive this designation," Bokran Won M.D., fellowship-trained breast imager, board certified radiologist, and medical director of the Women’s Center at Riverview Medical Center, said. "This designation highlights the strength and tireless commitment of our physicians and team members. We are committed to excellence and are passionate about giving our patients the highest quality of care. ACR accreditation is recognized as the gold standard in medical imaging."

Riverview Medical Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs following peer-review evaluations conducted by board certified physicians and medical physicists.

The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
