A Sweet (and Manly) Reveal

Sugarush bakery provided a pull-a-part cake for a local reveal of a DIY Network's Man Cave.

A Man Cave is a place for bros, a guy’s-only refuge filled with suds, big screen televisions, sports memorabilia, and plenty of leather furniture. Think of a man cave as an updated tree house – minus the “No Girls!” allowed sign – for men who need to get away from the oppressiveness of less than manly existence.

On Wednesday, crews from DIY Network’s Man Cave show stopped by the area to film a man cave reveal in a neighboring town and celebrated with a pull-a-part cake from bakery in Red Bank.

The show and its two hosts, Jason Cameron, the contractor, or brains of the outfit, and Tony Siragusa, better known by football fans at the Goose, select a lucky individual and turn a part of their home (no, it’s not always the basement, but that certainly fits the bill most times) into a certified Man Cave. According to a show description on DIY’s website, the guys have created soundproofed basements for rock n’ roll action, a mock-alpine lounge complete with roaring fireplace and ski resort feel, a golf-lover’s paradise, and a top-notch media center.

“DIY Netowrk understands there’s an environment for every guy that makes him feel fulfilled,” the site explains.

Chris Paseka, co-owner of Sugarush, said the giant saw-shaped cupcake cake was picked up for a cave reveal and could be featured on an upcoming episode of the popular television show, though there is no official air date.

This isn't the first time Man Caves has made an appearance in the area - it's believed that this unveil took place in Rumson. Earlier this year, the DIY crew filmed a separate Man Caves episode in Tinton Falls, too.
