Bike Season Begins in Red Bank

Open for two months, Red Bicycle on Front Street is seeing an influx of summer traffic.

It's summertime. Might as well call it bike season.

With the influx of pleasant to hot weather occupying the daily weather report between isolated t-storms, it's time to enjoy the weather, get in beach shape, and exercise the accumulated heft of winter away.

Red Bicycle on Front Street has been open since April 1, but business has really picked up recently, owner Jonathan Erdelyi said, and bicycle purchases and repairs are on the rise.

"We've been busy," he said, as his personal bike repair crew of Tommy and Bob toiled away on a customer's ride. "Last week was especially busy and it's certainly picked up. It's exciting for sure."

If you're looking to pick up a bike, Erdelyi said he's got you covered. While a customer looking around Tuesday afternoon chose to express his excitement about the new shop with some colorful language not appropriate for these pages, Erdelyi concurred, saying he's got rides for riders of all ages and all abilities.
