Gaetano's Gets Facade Improvement Funds

County officials encourage businesses to take advantage of program

Red Bank's Gaetano’s restaurant has been recognized for recent outside upgrades resulting from participation in the Grow Monmouth Façade Improvement Program.

“Gaetano’s Restaurant is being given a check for $1,824 for lighting fixtures,” Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone in a release. “This is the third check awarded through the Façade Improvement Program and every one of these checks has had a significant impact on the business.”

Located at 10 Wallace street, the restaurant's owner Tom Cappello participated in the program and was reimbursed with federal funds for outside improvements undertaken as part of the Grow Monmouth initiative that is using HUD Community Development Block Grant funds.

The aim of the facade program is to help improve the look of privately held commercial buildings located in HUD eligible areas of Monmouth County, which includes parts of Red Bank. No county funds are used.

HUD-eligible areas include all or part of 26 of the county’s municipalities, including: Aberdeen, Atlantic Highlands, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Colts Neck (Naval station only), Deal, Eatontown, Farmingdale, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Hazlet, Highlands, Howell, Keansburg, Keyport, Lake Como, Manalapan, Matawan, Neptune City, Neptune Twp., Ocean Twp., Red Bank, Shrewsbury Twp., Tinton Falls (naval station only), Union Beach and West Long Branch.

“No matching funds are required from the business,” Arnone said. “We have now dispersed $5,274 out of a total of $85,000 that has been set aside for this program, so businesses should apply now.”
