To all of those who believe in Harvey Dent and Gotham City, rejoice.
September 25 is National Comic Book day. This is a day for people of all ages to enjoy, since the first-ever comic book superhero made his first appearance in 1938. While some characters have new looks, and some of their storylines have changed completely, comic enthusiasts can still share their love of their favorite characters, old and new.
This geeky holiday is a great time for comic fans to honor their superhero, heroine or villain’s best stories. As far as where to find comic books locally, well, if you live in or around the Red Bank and Shrewsbury area you have more than one option to satisfy your comic craving.
One of the comic book joints you already know of. Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash has been a fixture in downtown Red Bank for more than a decade. The comic book and geek accessory store has gained popularity over the years both with popular podcasts being recorded in store and, more recently, a national television show Comic Book Men entering its second season on AMC.
In Shrewsbury, the Comic Crypt bills itself as the creepiest comic shop in New Jersey. Located off of the main drag on White Street, the Crypt remains a hidden gem for comic fans.
National Comic Book day is also a good precursor for the famous New York Comic Con. This year, it will be held during October 11-14 at the Jacob Javits Center, where heroes and villains will walk the streets of Gotham.
